THE LEEMU STORY
Crafting Wellness with Bold Flavor
Leemu means lemon in Farsi. The fruit itself originated in the regions of northern India, Myanmar, and China, and traveled westward along the Silk Road into Persia (modern-day Iran). As the fruit spread, its name evolved as different languages adapted it to their own sounds.
The Sanskrit word “nimbū” (निम्बू) referred to citrus fruits, and versions of this word spread into Persian, where it eventually became “līmū” (لیمو).
From Persia, the fruit and its name traveled to the Arab world, where an -n was added at the end, forming “laymūn / laymoon” (لیمون).
The Moors then carried both the fruit and the word into Spain, where it became “limón” and eventually spread throughout Europe and, later, the Americas and the rest of the world.
Wherever you travel, the word for lemon—līmu, laymoon, limón, lemon, limone—still sounds delightfully similar. It’s truly an international word, shaped by centuries of trade, travel, and human connection.
It represents how we are so much more connected than we think.
We are all fruits of one tree—the tree of humanity.

HEIROGLYPH
“We are the fruits of one tree, and the leaves of one branch.”
It is a reflection of the interconnectedness of humanity, where we are all integral parts of a greater whole. In a world often focused on magnifying differences and creating division, it serves as a reminder that we are all equal and stem from the same magnificent tree of humanity. Once we begin viewing the world through this aperture, we can see our differences as the various colors of fruits or a rainbow. It is through these differences that each color shines. Let’s celebrate our diversity, for it is what drives, art, innovation and unites us all.
